Vor zwei Monaten geisterte diese Dietmar-Hamann-Geschichte durch’s deutsche Internet. Die Engländer kommentierten gewohnt feinfühlig:

Ah those crazy Germans and their sense of humour, first they invade Poland now a large number of them want to name the new Wembley bridge the ‚The Dietmar Hamann bridge‘.

Nun:

„There’s been a great public response to naming this bridge which has stirred up a few friendly rivalries across the world. Now we’ve got to negotiate our way through these names without creating any international incidents.“ […] Last week, though, there was a German on the benefiting side – Dietmar Hamann – who just happens to be the most nominated name.

Heute werden wurden die Nominierten für die Endauswahl vorgestellt: Man darf ein wenig gespannt sein. Ein ganz klein wenig.

The three panellists who decided the list argued their way through the nominations, but were unanimous on excluding the most-nominated name: Dietmar Hamann.

Dabei war er nichtmal in der Hitlerjugend.
