10 Tage brauchen die deutsche und die schweizer Post, um einen DIN A 4 Umschlag von Karlsruhe an den Thuner See zu befördern. 10 Tage.
Das hätte uns fast die Buchung für die Urlaubsunterkunft (ja, tatsächlich per Post) versaut. Nächstes mal fahr ich’s selbst hin. Mit dem Fahrrad.

A friend of mine at school deleted all her Word documents by mistake, and before calling in any expert help, she tried reinstalling Word, and then she tried running Defrag. Neither of these helped recover her files, and between them they scrambled her disk to the extent that no Undelete program in the world would have been able to recover anything. If she’d only left it alone, she might have had a chance.
Users like this are like a mongoose backed into a corner: with its back to the wall and seeing certain death staring it in the face, it attacks frantically, because doing something has to be better than doing nothing. This is not well adapted to the type of problems computers produce.
Instead of being a mongoose, be an antelope.

zum vergleich:
ein brief von mumbai, dem ehemaligen bombay, in indien nach weingarten(baden) war 14 tage unterwegs. das hätt ich dann aber mit dem rad selbst nicht schneller geschafft

Zum Vergleich:
Ein Economy-Paket von Australien nach Deutschland dauert laut Aussage der Schaltebeamten vier bis sechs Wochen. Die Schnell-Luftpost immerhin fünf bis zehn Tage.
Mein Economy Paket kam nach zehn Tagen an.
Auch das hätte ich mit dem Fahrrad nicht geschaft – was nicht nur am vielen Wasser liegt.
